A new discovery for me today, this beer hails from Mexicali, the northern border city adjacent to Calexico – the Californian town that gives its name to the alternative country/Americana musical act.

The Lycan Lupus is a satisfying, bitter, flavoursome IPA that poured with a nice head and appearance in the glass.

The brewers have got the overall balance pretty much spot on, the fresh, hoppy aroma is just slightly sweet and seductive – drawing you in – but the sweetness is quickly tempered on the palate with lupulus acerbity.

This is the second IPA in this series from the northern border after La Lupulosa from Tijuana and so far they have been the standouts.

Extra quarter hop leaf for the trippy label featuring some kind of sharp-toothed creature.

Mexicali is well known for its Chinese food and this brew would pair well with a sweet and sour pork or lemon chicken, no doubt. I hope to get there soon.

Un descubrimiento nuevo para mí hoy, esta cerveza es de Mexicali, la ciudad fronteriza colindante con Calexico – el pueblo californiano que da su nombre a la banda de country altermativa/Americana.

La Lycan Lupus es una IPA que satisface, amarga y llena de sabor con una buena espuma y apariencia en el vaso.

Los cerveceros consiguieron un equilibrio muy bueno, el aroma fresco y lupuloso es ligeramente dulce y seductivo pero la dulzura es rápidamente atemperada en el paladar con amargor lupuloso.

Esta es la segunda IPA en esta serie de la frontera norte después de La Lupulosa de Tijuana, que hasta ahora han sido las mejores.

Una cuarta parte adicional de una hoja de lúpulo por la etiqueta psicodélica que cuenta con algun tipo de criatura con dientes afilados.

Mexicali es conocida por su comida china y esta chela sería buena acompañarla con cerdo agridulce o pollo al limón, sin duda. Espero ir pronto.
