This station, sandwiched between Insurgentes Sur and Zapata, takes its name (I’m sure you worked it out) from the nearby hospital.  It, in turn, I assume, is named after the significant day in Mexican history of November 20 1910 when Francisco Madero crossed into Mexico from Texas to initiate the Mexican revolution.

Fairly quiet streets greeted me in the mid-afternoon sunshine.  The area is home to a variety of public and private institutions. Auditoría Superior de la Federación , Mexico’s federal auditing nation is there.  Silanes, an international medical research company which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2013 is  as well.

Then there are a couple of private universities; University of the Incarnate Word and Universidad Latinoamericana.

Apart from the institutions, an urban golfing range and a tourism billboard (Acapulco awaits you) for a city that has taken a huge beating from both drug violence and last year’s Hurricane Manuel caught my eye.

The musical “Hoy no me puedo levantar” (Today I can’t get up) is coming to town, Mi vida en bici looks like a good place for a coffee, Jasan has your bonsai needs covered and Parque Pascual Ortiz Rubio provides a shady spot to read or take an afternoon nap if you prefer.

Well there you have it, more a basic directory of the area rather than a narrative of my experience.  Another milestone of the project I guess- station # 150!  Plenty of stops on line 12 still to come and hopefully more interesting stories.  Until then, over and out.

Esta estación, entre Insurgentes Sur y Zapata, toma su nombre ( seguro que ya sabes) del hospital cercano.  El hospital, supongo, se nombra por el día importante de la historia mexicana – 20 de Noviembre de 1910 cuando Francisco Madero llegó a México desde Tejas para iniciar el revolucionario mexicano.

Calles bastante tranquilas me recibieron en el sol de media tarde.  La zona da hogar a una variedad de instituciones públicas y privadas.  Auditoría Superior de la Federación está.  Silanes, una empresa internacional de investigación medica que celebró du aniversario de 70 años en 2013 también está.

Hay un par de universidades privadas; Centro Universitario Incarnate Word y Universidad Latinoamericana.

En adición me llamaron la atención un range de golf urbano y una valla publicitaria (Acapulco te espera) para una ciudad que ha sufrido últimamente por la violencia y el Huracán Manuel.

Bueno, ahí está, más un directorio básico de la zona que un narrativo de mi experiencia.  También otro hito del proyecto – estación #150!  Varias paradas más en la linea 12 y ojalá historias más interesantes.  Hasta entonces, cambio y fuera.
