Perhaps Mexico’s best known craft brewery and one of the largest is Minerva, located in Zapopan, a municipality that is part of the Guadalajara metropolitan area.

Their IPA, as you’d expect, is quite hoppy with a nice level of bitterness and a citric, grassy aroma.

The flavour lingers on the palate without overstaying its welcome and invites a prompt return swig.

It’s reminiscent of IPAs from the west coast of the United States without quite hitting the heights of a really quality one from, say, San Diego.

Available in beer specialty stores in Mexico City and some supermarkets.

I’ve seen Minerva stablemates, the Pale Ale and Stout, among others, at 7-Eleven but never the more regal, purple-labelled IPA.

The Minerva website recommends pairing with chili, chicharrón and potato sopes or mole tamales with cream and cheese.

Tal vez la cervercería artesanal más conocida de México y una de las más grande es Minerva, situada en Zapopan, un municipio que es parte de la zona metropolitana de Guadalajara.

Su IPA, como esperarías, es bastante lupulosa con un nivel bueno de amargor y un aroma cítrico y herboso.

El sabor se queda en el paladar sin abusar de su hospitalidad, invitándote a un nuevo trago.

Te recuerda a una IPA de la costa oeste de Estados Unidos sin tocar las alturas de una de muy buena calidad de San Diego, digamos.

Disponible en tiendas que se especializan en la venta de cerveza y algunos supermercados.

He visto otras cervezas de Minerva, la Pale Ale y Stout, entre otras, en 7-Eleven pero nunca la IPA que con su etiqueta morada me parece más real.

El sitio web de Minerva recomienda un maridaje con sopes de rajas, chicharrón y papa o tamales de mole con crema y queso.
