Josefina speaks to herself.

AMLO speaks to the people.

So reads a banner, obviously in support of the presidential campaign of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

I guess standing there in front of this banner was my focal point of the visit to Zaragoza.

Mexican history is peppered with heroes.

Ignacio Zaragoza who bequeaths his name to this station is another.

 I fear politics is too contentious and contested, too divided, to produce a universally accepted modern day Mexican hero, championing the causes most important to the people.

But the presidential election is fast bearing down so who is the best qualified to be the next president of Mexico?

Peña Nieto is streets ahead in the polls.

Young Mexicans have taken to the streets in droves to outright reject him.

Vázquez Mota would be the first female president of the country.

However the incumbency of her party seems to be a political liability rather than an asset.

López Obrador seems to be the man on the move.

Narrowly defeated last time around could the electoral mood be swinging his way?

I pondered it all, walked away, kicked a brown bottle of oxygenated water and it fizzled out.

Could that be any kind of metaphor?

Away from the main road upon which the station lies and the adjoining bustling bus station the streets were calm.

Some sought further tranquility, solace and refuge within that other powerful institution – the church.

They may pray for peace.  They may pray for humanity.

To act and to be humane.

For a better Mexico.

For a better world.

Peña Nieto habla con las cámaras.

Josefina habla sola.

AMLO habla con la gente.

Así dice una pancarta, obviamente en apoyo de la campaña presidencial de Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Supongo que estar de pie al frente de esta pancarta fue mi foco de atención de la visita a Zaragoza.

La historia de México esta llena de heroés.

Ignacio Zaragoza, quien deja su nombre a esta estación, es otro de ellos.

Temo que la política es demasiada polémica y disputada para producir un héroe mexicano de hoy aceptado universalmente, defendiendo y luchando por las causas más importantes por la gente.

¿Pero la elección presidencial está rapidamente acercando así que quién es más capacitado para ser el próximo presidente de México?

En las encuestas Peña Nieto está adelantado por lejos.

Méxicanos jovenes han marchado por las calles en rechazo total de él.

Vázquez Mota sería la primera presidenta de México.

Sin embargo la incumbencia de su partido parece ser un estorbo en lugar de una ventaja.

López Obrador parece ser el candidato avanzando más.

Vencido por poco la última vez, puede ser que el sentir del electorado está oscilando a su favor?

Reflexioné sobre todo esto, me fui caminando, dí una patada a una botella marrón de agua oxigenada y se derramó con debilidad.

¿Podría ser algun tipo de metáforo?

Fuera del camino principal donde está situada la estación y la estación de autobuses contigua las calles estaban tranquilas.  Algunos buscaron más tranquilidad, consuelo y refugio dentro de aquella otra institución poderosa – la iglesia.

Puede que oran por paz.  Puede que oran por humanidad.

Actuar y ser humano.

Por un México mejor.

Por un mundo mejor.
