“In the magic South Californian Desert, it emerges bitter like no other; Inspired in this cactus, ancient and mystical.”

Those are the words on a can of Peyote IPA, an ale made by Baja Brewing Co. in tourism mecca San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur.

The can also says that the beer is made with with a mix of five different kinds of hops but while it has a bit of bite it’s not as bitter as you might think. The aroma is quite nice, it poured with a decent head and it is nice enough drinking.

But I didn’t find anything particularly interesting about the beer – there’s no great flavor profile beyond the bitterness and therefore the 7% alcohol content isn’t much cushioned and is more prominent on the palate than I’d like.

Still, glad to have tried it and no, it’s not hallucinogenic like its namesake (at least not yet).

La lata también dice que la chela se hace con una mezcla de cinco lúpulos pero no es tan amarga como esperarías. El aroma es bueno, se sirvió con una buena espuma y es bueno tomarla.

Pero no encontré nada particularmente interesante sobre la cerveza – no hay un gran perfil de sabor más alla de la amargura y por lo tanto el 7% contenido de alcohol no está muy suavizado y es más prominente en el paladar que me gustaría.

Aún así, estoy contento de haberla probado y no, no es alucinógeno como su tocayo (al menos todavía no).
